My Thoughts on YouTube Red.

November 3, 2015

So it’s been a while since YouTube Red came out, so I thought I’d give my thoughts. Personally, I think this could help YouTube.

“But Retroity, why do you think that?”

Well, here’s the thing, YouTube likely costs billions of dollars a year to run. Do you really think all that storage and bandwidth is cheap? 18,000 Days of video is uploaded to YouTube per day. Despite uploading and processing all those videos, YouTube still runs fast. So yeah. YouTube is really expensive. YouTube basically wants to make more in order to run itself and have a better chance to sustain itself in the future. However, I realize that there’s been some concerns about it. Look, as long as content creators are still paid for views from Red subscribers, I’m fine with it. Again, this is to make YouTube more profitable.

YouTube is a business. You have to understand that. But also, content creators need to be supported, or YouTube won’t be YouTube. So as long as content creators are still paid for Red views, I don’t have a problem with it.
